Work Study and On-Campus Employment

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program is a federal financial aid program designed to provide students opportunities to earn money necessary to assist with educational expenses, while also gaining valuable work experience on campus.

Student work study is a vital part of the Benedictine campus. Please read below for information on how to obtain campus employment. You may view a listing of available work study opportunities and submit applications for positions on the Work Study Application.

How do I know if I am I eligible for Work Study?

Eligibility is based upon U.S. Department of Education guidelines, beginning with determining a student’s Need from the information derived from the student’s need from the information derived from the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If eligible, Work Study will be included on the Official Financial Aid Offer Letter found on your RavenZone account.

Please contact a member of the Financial Aid Staff with additional questions about eligibility.

What if I am not eligible for Work Study, but still would like to work on campus?

Federally eligible Work Study students receive first priority consideration for open positions. However, all students may apply for available positions on campus through the RavenZone Work Study Application.

In addition, Aladdin Campus Dining, our campus dining services partner, hires students for a variety of positions regardless of Work Study eligibility. To apply, contact the manager through the campus dining website.

Do I get paid or is it a credit against my tuition?

Work Study is not a credit against your tuition. You must work to earn this funding. Work study payroll is paid biweekly via direct deposit and the funds are available for your personal expenses.

Am I guaranteed an on-campus job if I am eligible?

No, we cannot guarantee a job for every Work Study eligible student. Students are responsible for applying for positions and scheduling interviews with the supervisor.

How do I find a job?

Visit the RavenZone Work Study Application to view and apply for available positions on campus.

Which departments hire Work Study students?

Most departments and offices on campus hire Work Study students. The list of departments with current open positions can be found on the Work Study Application. Keep in mind that academic departments frequently reserve positions for sophomore through senior-level students who are majoring in those disciplines.
